
Double win for Kenyans at Belgrade Marathon as Chumba, Sang shine

Deborah Sang broke the race's record, while Gilbert Chumba became the first-ever athlete to celebrate back-to-back wins in Belgrade
Kenyan athlete Gilbert Chumba won the 38th Belgrade Marathon, while his compatriot Deborah Sang not only triumphed in the women's race but also broke the Belgrade Marathon record with a time of 2:26:48.
Chumba crossed the finish line in 2:11:22, which is 25 seconds faster than his last year's result when he also won by a landslide. Chumba, 29, is the first athlete in the almost four-decade-long history of this race to celebrate back-to-back victories in Belgrade.

Kenyan Japhet Kosgei holds the Belgrade Marathon record in the 42-kilometer men's competition with a time of 2:10:54 from 2006. Kenyans are the most successful nation in the Belgrade Marathon, having won 19 times in the men's competition and nine victories in the women's race.
